Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of exercise therapy on positive and negative mental health status in people in white color managers and to determine this information the effectiveness of applied exercise therapy as a nursing intervention method for stress clients.
As a quasi-experimental design, the nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was utilized for this study. The subjects of this study consisted of 60 people, white color managers of men between the ages 40 and 49 years. They were divided into two groups : 30 in the exercise group and 30 in the control group.
The subjects of exercise therapy group consisted of 40min. at 60-70% of heart rate reserve by Karvonen¢¥s method. By the 12week of training, all subjects was exercising at 60-70% of heart rate reserve for 40minutes. Training frequency consisted of 4times per weeks and the exercise duration. was 40minutes.
In order to measure the results of the exercise therapy, aspects of perceived positive and negative mental health status were measured before and after participating in the exercise therapy for the exercise therapy group after 12 weeks, as well as the control group.
The collected data were processed by SPSS PC+ and analyzed by the X2 test, t-test. ANCOVA.
The results were as follows
1. The positive mental health status(selfesteem) in the exercise group showed
statistically significant improvement when
compared to the control group(p(0.001). also,
the exercise group showed statistically
significant improvement after 12weeks(p(0.001).
2. The negative mental health status (somatization, obsessive compulsive, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobic anxiety, paranoid, psychosis and grobal severity index in the exercise group showed statistically significant decrease when compared to the control group (p(0.001). also, the exercise group showed statistically significant decrease after 12weeks W0.001).
In conclusion, the exercise therapy in this study for stress care of white color managers showed significant effects by implementing for 12 weeks The exercise therapy improved the positive and negative mental health state, therefore this therapy is strongly recommended for nursing interventions methods for job stress of white color¢¥s job.
